Which Pole Length Do You Need?

The right pole is the shortest one that comfortably reaches your highest job. Here is a quick way to choose.

1. Measure your highest spot

Find the tallest place you want to clean, such as a ceiling fan, a window top or a gutter edge, and estimate its height from the floor or ground.

2. Subtract your reach

Most adults can reach about 5 ft above the ground with the pole at shoulder level. Subtract that from the height of your highest spot.

3. Pick the range that covers it

  • 4-8 ft: standard 8-9 ft ceilings, cabinet tops, fans in most rooms.
  • 6-12 ft: high ceilings, stairwells, first-floor exterior windows.
  • 7-20 ft: vaulted ceilings, second-story windows, single-story gutters.
  • 8-24 ft and up: two-story gutters, tall foyers, roof-mounted solar panels.
